Slice 200 grams (½ pound) of onion. Slice 200 grams (½ pound) of chicken or beef.
Peel, wash and julienne ½ kg (about 1 pound) of potatoes, keeping them in cold water. To julienne the potatoes, cut them lengthwise, making parallel cuts of the same thickness. Stack the slices and cut even strips. (Size: 1/8 x 1/8 x 1-2 inch, 3 mm x 3 mm x 3-5 cm). Cover with boiling water; bring back to a boil and strain.
Heat 50 ml (2 oz) of vegetable oil in a pan, add the onion, cook until translucent, add the meat and cook over high heat for a few minutes – until cooked through. Turn off the heat. Add ½ teaspoon of crushed coriander seeds, ½ teaspoon of paprika, ½ teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of salt and 30 ml (1 fl oz) of soy sauce.
